General Questions

Why would I want to use a transportation broker instead of dealing "direct"?

Many times we are asked why anyone would want to use a broker. There are numerous responses and reasons, each of which is different for shippers vs. carriers. As a shipper, a broker can fill a niche that can enhance a company's transportation program. Many brokers have contacts throughout the shipping industry which may allow them to offer services to a shipper they otherwise would have to handle in house. One call to a broker may resolve a lane issue that would otherwise require a multitude of calls within their own transportation department. This requires time, manpower, and money. A shipper can effectively "outsource" their transportation department to a broker, thus eliminating much of the costs of that department, while still obtaining the service requirements their customers need. In addition, reputable brokers have good, quality carriers already servicing their requirements. This reduces the possibility of finding a "bad" carrier. Trust Services has over 3500 quality carriers on file, many of which have been carrying our customers' loads for over 12 years! As a carrier, a good broker relationship can enhance a carrier's ability to do what they do best - transport a load of goods. Many carriers need backhauls or find themselves in areas they normally do not service. One call to a reputable broker can enable them to get back home or to their next pick up destination. In addition, payments from brokers, generally, and Trust Services more specifically, are much faster than from shippers. Furthermore, in today's economy with fuel prices hitting record highs, not many shippers offer access to com checks, t-checks, etc. and are not willing to offer any QuickPay arrangements. Trust Services does! We hope you will consider Trust Services to service your transportation requirements - whether you are a shipper or a carrier. You can TRUST us with your transportation needs!
